HIGH TIME FOR PLANET SAVING

Celebration of Earth Day means that every individual, with his or her own example and action contributes to Planet saving and like cleaning waste, planting trees, riding bicycles instead of cars, in order for all of us to put efforts to make our Planet better and more beautiful, and leave to our children in that way. This significant date is marked so that world population could be aware of their responsibility towards the planet where they live and thus reduce the negative influence to life environment. In Serbia, City of Nis this day is marked and celebrated by various institutions and ecological associations with their activities like this week was done in Kole Rasic primary school with the action called `Minute to 12 for the nature`, with the support of Palilula Municipality, media network Ekopolis, scouts, nutritionists of Health Center, Nis, Communal police and inspection, Food and food technology school in Nis. I am inviting all the citizens of Palilula to participate with their own example in their own surroundings to raising consciousness in education about the problems of life environment, emphasized president of Palilula at the ceremony in primary school Kole Rasic in Nis.

According to Sada Toncev - headmaster of Kole Rasic school, teachers and pupils created rich educational programme of presentation of healthy food, costumes of ecological material, number of activities that all started on April 20 and lasted during the whole week, citizens activism was promoted joined with volunteer work of pupils and it pointed to the significance of nature preserving and life surrounding.

Planet Earth Day was established in 1970 in USA after the ecological action and celebration worldwide from 1992 when on the Conference of United Nations on life surrounding in Rio was established long term programme for promotion of sustainable development Rio Declaration on Environment and Development). The aim of celebration of world day of Planet Earth is the warning on dangers that are threatening life on the Earth, its ecosystems and urban zones, during global warming and climate changes, industry development and higher energy spending.
